‘Yes or no, David? LNP Leader David Crisafulli heckled at marginal seat polling booth by Labor staffer in disguise- NEWS
LNP leader David Crisafulli has been heckled for the second time in 24 hours, this time by a covert Labor staffer disguised as a regular voter badgering the presumptive premier on abortion.
Initially, the LNP leader engaged politely with the young woman, expressing his disappointment that she wasn’t supporting his candidate. He added that perhaps in four years, when he could demonstrate that the abortion laws remained unchanged, she might reconsider her stance.
A covert Labor staffer has heckled LNP leader David Crisafulli while he was handing out how to vote cards alongside MP Ariana Doolan in the seat of Pumicestone.
Mr Crisafulli was supporting Ms Doolan in Bribie Island when he was heckled by the young woman in plain clothing who badgered the LNP leader about whether he would give his staff a conscience vote on the issue of abortion.
The young woman, who appeared to be an ordinary voter, was in fact an incognito staffer for Pumicestone MP Ali King, and later reappeared wearing a red shirt for Labor.
However, the interaction soon shifted, as The Courier Mail’s video footage shows. A staff member for Mr. Crisafulli is seen asking the woman, “Are you a Labor staffer?”
Another LNP campaigner chimed in, stating, “Yeah, she’s been working here on the booth.”
The woman then distanced herself slightly from the group but continued pressing Mr. Crisafulli, directly asking, “Will you allow your staff a vote of conscience? Yes or no, David. I want answers.”
At that point, Mr. Crisafulli stepped back, stating that he thought she was a voter rather than a Labor staffer, remarking, “You can’t be both.”
He added, “I think the word is… I think desperate might be the word,” before ending the interaction with a brief “Far out.”
Sky News reached out to Ms. King’s office for comment, but no response was received before publication.
